 PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BELOW WHEN CONSIDERING YOUR CHOICE OF TEXT

Important aspects to consider when analysing texts:

 

We can understand JUSTICE by examining issues using the following questions:

 

  1. What do we RECOGNISE about the issue?
  2. What can we do to ACT upon the issue?
  3. What can we learn by REFLECTING upon the issue?

 

 

 

Questions to focus attention to a situation:

 

What opportunities (favourable chances or circumstances) can you see in learning about Justice?

 

What assumptions should we challenge about our thinking of Justice?

 

What are the different opinions presented about Justice?

 

What new connections or understandings have you made or gained as a result of your experience or study of Justice?

 

How to analyse a text of your own choosing

YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING AND SUBMIT A WRITTEN RESPONSE ALONG WITH YOUR ANNOTATED COPY OF YOUR WORK.

  1. Read and sort out the literal level of meaning-who, what, when, where, why, how.
  2.  Read again and highlight any techniques that catch your eye. Make sure that you know the structures and features of the text type you are reading. You will then know what to look for.

3. Ask yourself: What does this text want me to think and feel about the issue of Justice? The answer to this question will lead you to understand the applied meaning of the text.

4. Now go back to your highlighted techniques and choose two or three that really do illustrate the applied meaning of the text. In this way you will be able to interpret the techniques, which can include language use, structures and features of the text.

5. Draw up a table and complete as follows:
