Joeys Year 7 2019

With the main winter competition season over, the boys are moving into Rugby 7’s, Futsal, AFLX and tennis. This will be the case for a few weeks until Summer Sport trials begin. Athletics Carnival

Last Monday was the College Athletics carnival. The whole school travelled to the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre. All boys were required to compete in at least the 100m sprint and 200m sprint. 1500 m

The 1500 m is a tough event being 4 laps of the track. This was an optional event that the boys could participate in but you will see how many boys have a go. I have cut the race down to a few minutes but you might notice a group of Year 7 boys running…

The long jump pit is right in front of the grandstand and it was great to see so many boys having a go.

Each boy in Year 7 ran the 200m event.

High jump

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to get video of the high jump right until the end when Lucas was the last man jumping. He jumped 1.55m and just missed a Personal Best of 1.57m.

100 m

All Year 7 ran in the 100m. Congratulations to Billy who won the 100m championship.

At some schools this game is called dodge ball. Here at Joeys we call it “Murder ball”.

Some Year 7 boys recently attending the Da Vinci decathlon at Knox Grammar School. They were fantastic ambassadors of the College. They participated enthusiastically in the day and had fun doing so. We didn’t bring home any prizes but I think the boys would agree that it was a challenging and very worthwhile day.
