Return to school Term 4
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope that you are having a great school holiday with your son and that he is ready to return for the final 9 weeks of the year.
Return to school
Boarders are due back by 8:00pm on Monday 10 October. Dorms will be open from around lunch time on that day.
Day students are due back by 8:00am on Tuesday 11 October.
Day student departure times
A reminder to enter your son’s departure times for next week into the portal please. I would greatly appreciate this as it will avoid me having to enter them manually into the portal for you next week.
Haircuts
Please ensure that your son returns to school with a haircut which is neat and tidy and of a style which meets College guidelines.
New leave system – Boardingware
This term we will use the Boardingware system for all medical appointments (all students), all dinner leave and overnight leave (boarding students). For dinner leave and overnight leave, the boys can enter all the details themselves in the system, you just need to approve the request when you get an email notification. For those parents who haven’t already started using the system, I will re-send the email which will come from “Boardingware” later today which will allow you to very quickly set up your account.
Year 9 Dinner
The Year 9 Dinner is being held on Saturday 22 October. RSVP date is 11 October (next week). Bookings for the dinner can be made through the Joeys online shop or by completing and returning the booking form on the invitation you would have received from Rose Unwin last term. Attendance for the boys is compulsory but it would be great to see you all there.
I look forward to seeing your sons back next week, and hopefully many of you at the Year 9 dinner the following week.
Regards,
Mick
Drama performance for Villa Maria primary school
Joeys welcomed a group of Kindy kids from Villa Maria Primary school as part of our Book Week celebrations. Their visit began in the drama theatre where a very talented group of Year 9 drama students entertained them with a play about Odysseus. The kids absolutely loved this performance.
Year 9 PDM Excursion
Current exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Art Gallery of NSW highlighted the diversity in practice of video art and photography. The boys were challenged to interpret the ideas and context of photographed imagery and time-based concepts. Their curiosity and engagement with the works showed a developing maturity of the boys as artists and photographers.
