TRIATHLON TEAM

The College Triathlon side competed today out at Penrith. Three Year 10 boys were part of the nine man team, Alex and Dom Sestanovic and Kane Rodwell. The boys competed strongly and certainly gave their all as can be seen by the following photos. Congratulations and thankyou to each one of them.

FOOD FOR FUEL

Andrew and I have been talking to the boys about their food choices at meal times. As many of them have big workloads, they need to be choosing good meals, rather than comfort food of jam or peanut butter sandwiches. Plenty of good selection is always available for them, pleasing to see most boys choosing wisely too.

BRONZE MEDALLION

On Wednesday all boys successfully completed their tests on their way to completing their Royal Life Saving Bronze Medallion. We were most impressed by the manner in which they completed their respective tests.

NEW ADDITIONS DOING WELL!

Congratulations to our new beginners for this year, they have mixed into the Year group tremendously and have made a wonderful contribution in their own ways. There have been and will still be challenges but the manner in which all these boys have begun here at Joeys is a credit to them and they are a pleasure to have in the Year group.

NIGHT ACTIVITIES

After evening study is completed many of the boys take up the option of the evening activities, basketball, touch football, taking things easy in the dorms or going to the Healy Centre for supervised training, which has proved popular with them all. The boys are supervised by Cameron Black (NRL Referee Strength and Conditioner), Andy Gilvary (SJC Strength and Conditioner), James Quinn  and Ben Carolan who are both College coaches with Strength and Conditioning qualifications.

TODAY’S DIVISION MEETING

At our Division Meeting Today the boys were addressed by Mr Graeme Kachel, Director of Technology and Innovation and he spoke to them about Digital citizenship at Joeys. Graeme stressed the importance of managing their Digital Footprint positively and the importance of having a positive online presence both for today and for their future endeavours. It was a very productive and informative presentation.

Saturday Night Boarders BBQ

Boys staying in on Saturday night enjoy an opportunity to cook up a terrific BBQ before sitting around to generally relax have a talk about the day’s sport and enjoy the meal. This group, as usual, have plenty of self-proclaimed BBQ Kings on hand to cook, there are plenty of opinions on o ffer and I am pleased to say, they are excellent in the after dinner clean up!
