Parent Teacher Interviews
On Friday April 7, the Parent, Student Teacher Interviews take place. You have received a few emails about this from Mark Williams (Dean of Studies) and have hopefully managed to book interview times. This is just a reminder that it is important for your son to attend with you. Attached is the document you received at the end of February if you haven’t yet booked appointment times.
Holiday Training Schedule
I shared this a few weeks back but I thought it would be good to share once again. Please refer to the document below if your son is interested in attending any of these sessions.
Oratory Cup
Lenten Appeal
This year, St Joseph’s College will be raising funds to build a new school in Timor-Leste. This school will be built and run by the Marist Brothers and will provide much needed support for those in need.
Year 7 have so far raised just over $1500. A great effort in a short space of time. Well done boys.
Award Recipients
NAPLAN Decoded
Mr Ross (Academic Coordinator) Mr Bookalil (Director of Teaching and Learning) and Mrs Rothwell (Head of English) spoke to the boys today about NAPLAN.
They discussed some of the myths associated with it and shared some tips for success not only in the upcoming NAPLAN tests but also for future assessment tasks.
The structure of the tests were discussed and Mrs Rothwell discussed how the English department and teaching staff can support the boys with their written expression.
Year 7 Oratory Cup
As part of their English assessment schedule, each student presented a speech during class time on a hobby of their choice. Following this, a speaker was chosen from each class to present at the Year 7 Oratory Cup. Congratulations to each of these boys for their efforts.
