Books & Blokes with Adam Spencer

“With my book, I’m excited to know I’m feeding the Geek in others”

For our Term 2 Books & Blokes Breakfast we celebrated Maths week by inviting self-proclaimed maths geek, Adam Spencer, as our guest speaker. Adam was thoroughly entertaining and spoke of his life-long love of numbers, and his belief that maths is at the essence of what it is to be human. He explained that numbers give us the capacity to understand the way our world works and the ability to solve mysteries.

Adam has achieved great success in many and varied areas. He flitted with a law degree, began a PHD in pure maths, is a world champion debater, breakfast radio announcer and a TV personality.
He published his first book, Big Book of Numbers, with three aims in mind:

1. To get people excited about maths
2. To feed the beast for those who already loved maths
3. To use numbers to explain our amazing world.

Adam’s latest book is “The Number Games” where he explores many interesting number facts.
