Thinkquest excursion
On Wednesday the 14 March Will Sheekey, David Talifero, Declan Hourigan, Noah Fogarty, Fletcher Youens, Nick Baksa, Bernard Lund, Enrique Santos and Will McEvoy travelled to St Vincents College, Potts Point for a Philosophy Day.
Fletcher Youens reflects on the day:
Personally, I especially enjoyed the lecture at Potts Point and the community of inquiry. It was great to be able to talk to everyone especially about Kgari and the first fake news with no one getting interrupted and everyone able to share their ideas. Matthew Beard was great and talked about some controversial topics, showing us how we can’t just trust everything we see in the headlines. It is important to check what you’re reading to be able to make sure it’s real. Lastly, we had the creative part of the day which used the other side of our brains as we had to create an ad. Overall the day was extremely fun and enjoyable and given the opportunity I would definitely do something like that again.
I really enjoyed the day. My favourite part would have been the creative projects just because we got to collaborate with other schools and create something ourselves based on what we had heard throughout the day. My only feedback would be that we should create something after the community of inquiry so that we can sum up our ideas or present them like we did here. Otherwise, great day and I really enjoyed the lecture as well as the different insights on the topics from other schools.
