Poster Squad

by | 25 September

For many years it has been a tradition that Year 12 boys put up posters around the school on the eve of various sport competitions. This has occured less this year due to COVID, however posters were put up prior to winter sport games against Riverview.

As well as posters, large banners are often hung on the front of the main building. This means that they need to be secured out the windows of the Year 8 dorms which are on the top floor of the main building.

A few weeks ago, late on the Thursday night before Joeys played Riverview, the Year 12 cheer squad arrived in the Year 8 dorms to hang one of the banners. It is a complex operation involving a number of Year 12 boys in the dorms, some on the ground and multiple phones on speaker as people on the front lawn give directions. Year 8 boys near the windows also have to co-operate by moving their beds.

The Year 12 boys hit a bit of a snag when, after spending many minutes in the darkness trying to get the banner in place, they realised that none of them knew the best way to secure the rope holding the banner.

Luckily Year 8 came to the rescue when Xavier, who had been quietly observing, was able to quickly and easily lash the rope securely to his bedframe with a quick knot!
