BOYS IN ACTION – FOOTBALL V HIGH.

Saturday proved to be a successful day for Football in Round 2 of the GPS competition, with 8 wins to 3 losses. In the 2nd XI, the boys peppered the opposition goal with 22 shots, but relentless defence and exceptional goalkeeping led to High keeping a clean sheet. After conceding a goal from a well-worked High counterattack late in the game, Joeys changed to three at the back and threw the everything but the kitchen sink at the opposition goal, but the elusive equaliser didn’t eventuate.

The 1st XI went into their game with the support of a full grandstand, but this didn’t deter the High firsts who were up for the challenge. Heading into halftime 2-1 up, Joeys had a long way to go to secure the match. Whatever was said at halftime clearly made an impact, with the boys coming out more composed and ready to fire in the second half. A flurry of goals soon followed, and the match finished 8-1; One of our biggest competition wins, which included a hattrick to Oliver Burnett.
