Leading into the game on Saturday, whilst the First XV was yet to register a win this GPS season, you could never fault their effort, resilience, or passion over the last five weeks. Each match has gone down to the final play and despite injury and disappointment they have done the school proud, time and time again. Saturday’s game against Scots was no different.
Again, our team battled injury, and were forced to defend for long periods on our own line. But the Joeys boys persevered. Our forwards were immense from 1 to 8. The way they carried the ball and their physicality in defence was too much for the Scots pack. Despite the new look, unfamiliar backline, our backs produced their best rugby of the season, scoring a couple of brilliantly worked tries when we needed it most. Final Score 34 – 26, in what was a great Joeys victory at home.
