Saturday’s race at Upjohn Park marked the last race for Term 2 before we break up for the holidays. The race was hosted by Cranbrook & Knox and was on the familiar course of Upjohn Park. Cranbrook and Knox made some minor changes to the traditional course, by extending it an extra 60-70m on the out and back turn around, which made each relay leg just under 2km.
Relays have always been a more relaxed and enjoyable part of the Cross Country calendar and the boys enjoyed the shortened distance with some promising results from a number of boys. In our Year 12 opens team consisting of Daniel Zubani, Max Merifield, Xavier Fink and Matteo Mastro, we placed an impressive 5th out of 27 teams. All of the boys ran incredibly well, with the fastest split of the day going to Max and if it wasn’t for a strong finish from Matteo who held off a fast-finishing Waverley team, we could have ended up in 6th.
