1st XV Rugby v Newington

by | 29 July

There was plenty of feeling in the First XV match. Newington had beaten Joeys at home in Round 1 and our boys were confident to return the favour. Led by the physicality of Eamon Doyle and Pat Young, our pack was too strong and powerful for Newington. We had them on the back foot early and our backs found plenty of space on the edges.  Ethan Tombs finished off an excellent backline play on the right edge, to open the scoring. We stayed in front and controlled the tempo for the rest of the match, eventually finishing 40-17 winners. It wasn’t a complete performance but our strongest for the year, as we build into two epic final rounds.
