Saturday saw the Cross Country squad travel to Sydney Park for the first point-scoring, competition round of Term 3. The race was hosted by Newington and was also the GPS vs CAS championships, where the top 8 GPS runners race against the top 8 CAS runners to determine the ‘best’ division of schools. This also meant that it was the last time that the boys would race against the CAS schools for the season. The course was relatively similar to the Shore Invitational at Sydney Park in Term 2, except it required the boys to run up an even steeper hill this time, which made for a challenging day for all runners.\
In the Seniors we had a team of five runners in Daniel Zubani, Matteo Mastro, Max Merifield, Tom Ryan & Xavier Fink taking on the 8km course. Daniel led the way with a 37th place finish (28th GPS), followed by Matteo in 42nd (33rd GPS), Max in 66th (56th GPS), Tom in 67th (57th GPS) and unfortunately Xavier had to withdraw due to twisting his knee on loose rocks. The Senior team placed 9th (6th GPS) beating home Newington and Riverview.
