Saturday saw the final race of the GPS Cross Country season, which was hosted by Joeys at the familiar ground of Upjohn Park. The course consisted of predominantly grass and had a couple undulating hills throughout the 1.9km loop. With Joeys hosting it meant for an early start for several of the boys including the golfers who assisted on the day.
In the Opens race we had a full squad consisting of Oliver Neate, Daniel Zubani, Max Merifield, Matteo Mastro, Tom Ryan and Xavier Fink. Our captain, Oliver, led us home with a courageous run to take out the race by over 70m in what was a solid return to form. Oliver was closely followed by Dan who placed 21st, Max in 29th, Matteo in 38th, Tom in 58th and Xavier in 81st.
Our senior team scored their lowest and best score of the season with a score of 89 points, which saw them place 5th, beating home Grammar, Newington and Riverview. A massive thank you and congratulations must go to all of the boys who trained & competed this season.
