There was such a large range of outstanding achievements by Year 12 boys recognised at this assembly across so many areas.
Academic engagement awards for Term 1, 2024 were presented. Congratulations to the following who received awards: Zachary J Boyle, Shaun Calingao, Lucas Choi, Angus Cornish, James de Szoeke, William Fahey, James Forder, Lachlan Foster, Jeremy Klepac, Marek Kliman, Oscar Kochanski, Wallace MacKay, William McCarthy, Angus McRae, Thomas Petherbridge, Thomas Pike, Harrison Potts, Tobias Purcell, Thomas Ryan, Edward Scarf, Seamus Shepherd, Hamish Smith, William Starr-Thomas, Darcy Toscan, and Connor Williams.
Alex Negline and Hamish Smith were each presented with a Leaders and Achievers Award from Macquarie University. The award is for students in Year 11 or 12 who are able to demonstrate significant leadership, academic excellence, or community engagement at school or local community.
Angus McRae presented a report on the recent Tanzania immersion along with Sebastian O’Brien (Y10).
In sport and co-curricular, William McCarthy was recongised for his recent selection as captain of the Austrlian Schools Debating team which will soon compete in an international competition in Serbia.
Billy Blair was congratulated for his recent win in the U18 110m Hurdles at the Oceania Athletics Championships.
Hayden Ciguenza was also congratulated for his recent performance in the tennis Pizzey Cup where he was undefeated in both his singles and doubles matches. Hayden was selected into the All-Australian Team and also received the Team spirit award for within the NSW team due to his excellent leadership as captain throughout the week.
Ari Sullivan was recognised for his recent selection into the GPS Football 1st XI team.
James Templeton was congratulated on his selection in the GPS Cross Country Team for the CIS competition.
Finally, to round out so many incredible achievements by Year 12 boys, Connor Williams spoke to the school about his HSC Composition “Let the River Flow” and then performed it for the school. Video of this and photos below.
