Throughout the year we would like to provide Year 8 parents and carers a look inside life at the College.
On Monday this week over 900 boys enjoyed Beef Nachos for lunch. And just in case you are considering a lunch leave for the entire College here is what you would need to pull it off!!
Last week saw the 2nd group of Year 8 boys head to Colo. Here is a review by Thomas Callaughan
For the last four days I have been at Colo. I Really enjoyed it especially the mountain bike riding and orienteering. This year we rode to the camp site on our bikes, this was better than walking like last year. We did a lot of fun things like rock climbing, high ropes, low ropes, orienteering, group problem solving and mountain bike riding. On the last night we stayed at a campsite. At the campsite we had to cook on fires and sleep in tents. We were split into 2 groups of 4. In our groups we had to collect fire wood, collect water from the river, dig a fire pit, set up tents and cook our food on the fire. This was great fun! My favourite part of the week was the ride to our campsite.
Here is a video of the boys of English 8.3 having a great time at Colo!
Monday saw Year 8 boys participate in the 2011 College athletics carnival. All boys were required to compete in at least 2 events, representing their house colours. I would like to congratulate the boys of year 8 for their effort and application.
Please find below a collection of photographs from the day.

The first Year 8 camp for 2011 started on a high note. The boys approached the adventure activities with determination and enthusiasm. Staff were particularly impressed with the level of cooperation amongst the boys, their good manners and willingness to help out. Here is a video of the boys having a great time at Colo!
I would like to introduce the Year 8 Coordinators and Boarding Staff of 2011. As you can see from the information below we are very lucky to have such an experienced group of professionals who are commited to working with your son to do his very best whilst at the College.
Mrs Donna Quinn – Academic Coordinator
A warm welcome to all parents and carers of boys in Year 8, 2011. My name is Donna Quinn and I am the Academic Coordinator for your sons this year. I have worked at Joeys for many years in a number of capacities. My specialty area is Geography but I have also taught numerous other subjects, coached a variety of sports and worked in both Year 11 and Year 7 Boarding. I am really looking forward to working with you and your sons over 2011. My role is particularly concerned with the day to day academic and pastoral needs of your sons. I believe it is very important that the boys further develop and consolidate their academic skills in Year 8 and I will be encouraging them towards this end. I work closely with Anthony Rooskie and the boarding team to ensure your sons are well cared for.
Tim has been at the College since 2009. Prior to this Tim worked at St Patrick’s College in Goulburn where he was the Director of Boarding. Tim runs the boarding house on Monday, Wednesday and alternating Friday evenings.
For you Rugby buffs there will be no introduction necessary for George. He is the Special Duties Officer at the College and he has worked for 2 years in year 8 boarding. Another individual who would need no introduction to you after the terrific amount of genuine care he gave to Year 7 boys last year. I would simply like to say we are very lucky having Jim on our team this year. Jim works on Monday and alternating Friday and Saturday nights.
