Sub Tuum

The Sub Tuum is one of the most ancient and significant prayers for all Marists. The Year 7 cohort are studying this prayer and are learning to pray and sing it during class and at important spiritual events here at the College.

Saturday Sport

Unfortunately we experienced another weekend where sport was interrupted due to inclement weather. The 13A Waterpolo side were one of the few teams to complete a match this weekend. They had a great win against Trinity Grammar 10-9. Well done boys.

A summary of the first few weeks

Luke Broughton and Keon Azzi spoke this morning at the Headmasters Assembly and shared their thoughts on the first few weeks here at Joeys. Both boys addressed the audience exceptionally well with Luke speaking from a boarding perspective and Keon from a Day Student persepective. Well done boys you should be very proud of your efforts.

Academic Award Recipients

Well done to the boys below for a fantastic start to the year. These boys each received an award due to at least three positive reports from their classroom teachers. Well done boys and keep up the great work in the classroom.

Boarding Life

On Tuesday night the boarders participated in some domestic duties; laundry and making beds. It is safe to say that the boys now know how to make a bed hospital corners included. Parents take note and expect this at home. The competition is now on to maintain this with a McDonald’s meal for the best kept bed.

Pastoral Care Focus

Year 7 will be focusing on bullying and anti-social behavior in their Pastoral Care groups this week. The focus is to bring about awareness and develop an understanding of bullying and the impacts it causes. This will also be addressed in our Division Meeting on Thursday morning and the boys will be encouraged to stop, think and consider their actions. The concept of the by stander will be addressed and the boys will be encouraged not to take on this role. They will be encouraged to do the right thing and take on a sense of responsibility.

The National day of action against Bullying and Violence will be held on Friday 17 March, 2017. This is a day that encourages awareness which will hopefully bring about change. Leading up to this day, the Year 7 boys will address bullying and will routinely be asked to think about their actions and the potential consequences. Bullying will continually be addressed throughout the year in Pastoral Care time and in Division meetings.
