Family Mass

One for the calendar – the Champagnat Family Mass is on Sunday June 3 at 10am. A reminder that this is a compulsory event.

NAPLAN overview

You should all be very proud of your sons over the last few days. They have been exceptional in the way in which they have conducted themselves during the NAPLAN examinations. Their behaviour, cooperation and work ethic has been superb. Peter Ross, Matthew Bookalil and myself have all praised them for their efforts and were very proud of each and everyone of them.

Empathy

Empathy has been our theme in Pastoral care over the last two weeks. I have quite possibly bored the boys to death talking about this but I feel that is something very important that we should aim to entrench in our young men. We are using this to encourage the boys to think before they act and to try and understand how others may feel in certain situations.

We have talked about the importance of empathy and to try and show empathy to others. We have also encouraged the boys to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. This is certainly something that will be ongoing for us and your support here would be greatly appreciated. If you have to opportunity to sit and discuss this with your son, I would be very grateful.

The image below has been on our notice boards and has been a focal point for us over the last two weeks.

Year 7 Dinner

Don’t forget that this is fast approaching. The boys are now in the process of selecting their table arrangements which I hope to finalise early next week. Please ensure that your RSVP’s are in by May 23rd to Rose Unwin runwin@joeys.org.

Year 7 Concert

The combined Year 7 Concert rehearsing together. These boys meet every Monday afternoon to further develop their ensemble awareness and collaborative skills.

School Photos

The photos take place on Friday May 25 (two weeks time). The boys will need to be in BLUES for these photos so they are asked to wear their BLUES to school on this day. Your son should have brought home an ordering form for this, if he hasn’t, I have plenty of spares so please ask him to come and see me.

The boys are reminded that they need to have an appropriate hair cut for these photos (guidelines for this are on page 134 of the Student Diary) and wear clean polished shoes.

Parking this Saturday

Following on from last term, we will have restricted parking within the College grounds for Winter sport home games commencing this weekend, 12 May 2018.

During the hours of 7.30am and 2.30pm:

Gladesville Road & Mark Street gates will be open for pedestrian access only. The gates will be closed to vehicular access for all except staff. Ryde Road gates will be locked and the pedestrian gates will be open for access to the College. The bollards around circular lawn will be locked.

Early Morning Football Training

Mr Sharpley and the football staff have organised an alternative ‘senseball’ session for Wednesday mornings. This session runs from 6.30am to 7.15am and is for 13a, 13b and 14a players. The boys are to meet at the Basketball gym with their training gear and joggers/indoor shoes.

Once the training is complete the boys are to shower, get changed and then join the boarders for breakfast in the dining hall.
