White Elephant Stall Information from the Spring Fair Committee

Dear SJC families,
With the holidays coming up, the 2018 Spring Fair committee invites you to take some time to sort out your cupboards and garage and gather up items you may no longer want or need. Collections for Spring Fair will take place in Term 3.
Before choosing an item to give to White Elephant, consider whether you would want someone else to pay money for it. Soft toys are not always in good condition, games are missing parts or electrical products don’t work. Year 7 (as you may know having done this stall) work really hard to pull a huge amount of items together to sell for 100% profit to the P&F, so please don’t make them throw out your rubbish. It’s a terrific bonding experience for them (!!), and you may like to have a look at the Marie Kondo method on the ‘Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up’ to ensure they enjoy it!

Details of drop-offs will be published in Term 3.
Have a great break with your boys.

Music Opportunity

A note from the music department below:

Would you like to give your students an amazing opportunity to travel to New Zealand and record one of their original songs that could then end up on national TV?
XVenture and ecostore are supporting talented songwriters aged between 11 and 18 years and are giving them the opportunity to win a trip to New Zealand to record their very own track that could be on the XVenture Family Challenge presented by ecostore TV Series on Australian and New Zealand national TV!

Finishing Up

With the final day being a week away, the boys have been encouraged to start the pack up process. As with last term, everything will need to be removed from your sons press. This is to ensure the cleaners can get in and do a thorough job and also to enable the rotation of boys in each dorm.

In saying this the boys should be able to leave by 4pm on Thursday June 28 if:

  • their press is empty
  • their lock is placed in the appropriate milk crate and left at the College
  • boarding areas are spotless
  • beds stripped and drawers empty

Day students and Weekly Boarders will need to take all their belongings with them while Full Boarders can leave a bag and their bedding in the storage room in Dorm 12.

Departure Times

Last minute departure times are proving to be a little problematic for the staff on duty in the dorms at 5pm. If we could try and make these changes earlier and by 3.30pm that would be very helpful as the staff are often at sport after this time and trying to adjust this at the last minute with a large amount of boys signing out can be difficult. Thanks for your cooperation here.
