CentaCare Visit – Student Account

CantaCare:

“Centacare was an experience I’m never going to forget as it was a big eye-opener for all of us to witness their everyday lives. Although dealing with disabilities, they were still capable of doing everyday tasks. It is fun and easy to hold a conversation with the workers and they were very nice and just wanted to chat about their job and our everyday lives. This ranged from school to sport and what everyone did during the holidays.

There were some great characters such as Roy who loved to bark out orders to every one thinking he was the boss or Stanley who seemed quiet on the outside but once you got to know him, he had a great personality and loved to chat.

Life for many disabled people isn’t easy and most of them still live with their mums but they still make an effort to get to work as it takes over an hour of public transport every day for many of these people to get to CentaCare but they still make the effort.”
