Year 8
Welcome to the Year 8 page where hopefully you will be able to find all the information you require about your son’s Mathematics course. The first assessment task for term 4 will be held in week 3 and the Yearly Examination will be held during the examination block of the start of December.
In 2012 there will be seven Year 8 Mathematics classes. These classes are graded based on Year 7 results. All boys studying Year 8 Mathematics are taught the same classwork and sit the same examinations. The assessment tasks will be designed to reflect Bloom’s Taxonomy. All students could be expected to achieve about a third of the available marks by answering questions which examine their knowledge and understanding of the concepts taught. A further third of the available marks will be allocated to questions which requires students to demonstrate their ability to apply their knowledge in a range of more difficult questions. The remaining third of available marks will be allocated to questions which are designed to challenge and hence differentiate the top students in the year group.
Topics studied in Term 4
There will be 3 topics taught in Term 4 of 2012. These are:
Data Analysis
Linear Relationships
Geometical Constuctions
