In relation to the horrific time of Catherine Smith’s life, there are two forms of justice evident within the article. Firstly, Injustice is witnessed through the constant, emotional, physical and physiological harm in which was inflicted on Catherine Smith by her husband Mr Smith. This included sexual assault, abuse and controlling her in horrific methods for 20 years. The fact this this is inconsistent with morals and it is therefore, “wrong” supports the component of injustice. Subsequently, further injustice is witnessed through the courts decision to accuse Catherine for “attempted murder” while she tried to escape from her husbands terrible, evil nature. Contrastingly, justice has been achieved throughout this article through the final judgement of Mr Smith being accused and convicted of all his offences during the 20 years of his nature inflicted on his wife. Therefore this is the equal impact of the law of preventing people of this nature to be situated in our society in order to reduce these types of crime. This is considered to be “morally right”.
