Year 9 PDHPE Skill Day

Yesterday during Periods 3 and 4, Year 9 ventured to the Park for a PDHPE Skills Day. The main focus of the day was to work on skills for running, Rugby and Football. Andrew Blades, the Director of Rugby and Craig Sharpley, the Head of PDHPE facilitated drills designed to assist the boys in their chosen sports.

St Joseph’s Day Liturgy

Tuesday the 19th of March marked the Feast of St Joseph, an important date on the College calendar. A liturgy was held in the Hall and a special lunch provided for the boys. As a community we reflect upon the example that St Joseph provided and his importance as the patron Saint of our College.

Head of the River

Last Saturday, Year 9 and the rest of the College attended the AAGPS Head of the River at Sydney International Rowing Centre at Penrith. It was a steamy day and the boys showed great spirit and composure to cheer up and support their schoolmates out on the water.

The day marked the official end of Summer sport and Winter sport is now well underway.

Year 9 Dance

Last night St Joseph’s welcomed the Year 9 girls from Loreto Normanhurst for our first set-dance of the year. The night was a great success and was well organised by Joan Carmody and her assistants. The boys conducted themselves as young gentleman and were the perfect hosts.

This morning Year 9 completed the second of their dance practices in preparation for their first set dance next Monday. The boys were put through their paces by Joan Carmody who has been preparing Joeys boys for dances for decades.

A reminder that the dance is on next Monday in the Brother Emilian Hall from 6.30-8.30 pm.

Year 9 PDM making Cyanotype images.

Some images from Ms. Simon’s Year 9 PDM class.

Here are some pics of my year 9 PDM class making cyanotype images at the end of last week. This is a form of cameraless photography. They have been working really well. An impressive group that is very enthusiastic.

Year 9 2019 Textbook list

The textbook list below is in the format of an order form for Campion Books, however you can source the books from anywhere. One benefit of using Campion is that they will deliver to the College for boarding students and we will distribute the books to the boys.

Please do not stress if your son is missing a textbook or two for the start of the term, teachers know what it is like getting these organised along with everything else.

Year 9 Stationery List 2019

Below is the recommended stationery list.

Please note that the Uniform Shop does hold some stationery supplies, however, you will find that you can pick up the items at a better price if you get the equipment from stores such as “Officeworks” before your son starts. This will also ensure that he has a smooth start.

If he does need an item urgently throughout the term, the Uniform Shop will be available each day where he can use cash or credit accounts can be set up by parents.  Country boarding students should speak to me first if there is something they need.

A reminder that the boys do not need to purchase a diary, they will all receive a College diary.
