Work Experience Program Year 10
The 2011 Year 10 Work Experience Program takes place from Monday 20th June to Friday 24th June.
A package of documents is in the mail to parents and carers. Electronic copies will be available on the careers section of ilearn and JNET. The attached letter explains the documents and processes for arranging work experience. The most important document is the attached ‘St Joseph’s College Workplace Record’ which serves as a contract between all parties. A completed copy of this document should be lodged with the school before work experience takes place in order to activate our insurance cover.
The Work Experience Program is an important step toward career development. Scholarships, employment opportunities, alternate entry, ADFA, GAP year and apprenticeship applications all require students to provide detailed information on any work experience undertaken. Early work experience is particularly important for students intending to apply for medicine, veterinary science and some journalism courses at university.
At St Joseph’s College Year 10 Work Experience is followed early in Term 3 with a structured ‘Career Voyage’ program. This evening workshop program includes completion of a careers workbook and distribution of the government funded ‘Job Guide’ directory and other career publications to the students. The workbook is intended to assist students in subject selection for Years 11 and 12. Details and the dates for this program will be available later in the year.
