CAREER VOYAGE WORKSHOPS FOR STUDENTS.

The Career Voyage workshop will help prepare the boys for their subject selection interview.

Boys have been allocated one evening workshop for next week
They are to bring a pen. No laptops

WINTER HOLIDAY RUGBY DEVELOPMENT CAMP

During the coming holidays SJC Rugby Convenor Andy Gilvary, will be running 2 rugby camps for our juniors and intermediate players (as attached):

1. Wednesday 28th June (Juniors – year 7 & 8)
2. Wednesday 5th July (Intermediates – year 9 & 10)

Each Player Development Centre will be focused around skill development of the boys over 4 x 1 hour blocks (10:00am – 2pm):

• Grip and carry
• Pass and catch
• Tackle technique
• Game sense

The camps will be open to all boys in each year (7-10) and the hope is we will get 50 + each day to work with. PLEASE REFER TO THE ATTACHED FLYER FOR MORE DETAILS.

1st & 2nd XV JERSEY PRESENTATIONS.

At today’s Assembly esteemed SJC Old Boy, Paul Peterson(66) presented the boys selected in our 1st and 2nd XV Rugby teams with their jerseys as they prepare to play Scots in Round 1 of the GPS competition on Saturday. Congratulations to Nicholas Chan and Daniel O’Brien who have been selected in the 1st XV and to Hugh Bokenham, Jude Gibbs and Nicholas Jones who have been selected to play in the 2nd XV. We wish them and all other boys every success and enjoyment for the up-coming season.

RECONCILIATION WEEK ASSEMBLY

Today at our Assembly the theme was Reconciliation Week, where our Indigenous students performed some traditional dances and spoke of their own personal journey through their culture. It was entertaining and quite moving for us all.

1st and 2nd FOOTBALL 2017.

This Saturday marks the first round of the GPS Football Competition Season when our boys will play against Grammar. Congratulations to Duncan Cahill, Nicholas Diab, Joseph Doherty and Austin Gallagher on their selection in the 1st Football X1 for this season. Emmanuel Rimagmos has also been selected in the 2nd Football X1. We wish these and all our footballers every success and enjoyment for the upcoming season.

Da VINCI DECATHLON 2017

Students compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English, Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and General Knowledge.

The following Year 10 boys were selected to compete as a team: Oliver Sidgreaves, Daniel Gibbons, Angus Dermody, Emmanuel Rimagmos, Robbie Matchett, Kobi Russell, Shae Beynon, Nick Davies.

GHURKHA AUSTRALIA CHALLENGE.

Last Sunday a number of our boys volunteered to participate in the Ghurkha Australia Challenge, which involved the boys working with the Nepalese Ghurkhas from the British Army, as well as soldiers from the Australian military. The boys had a wonderful experience which culminated with an official dinner in our College Hall with many dignitaries in attendance.
