Boys went on the Geography Excursion to Darling Harbour and Barangaroo today. Whilst the weather was a bit shaky at first forcing the boys to use any means to take notes, the day went on and the boys got into their work nicely. Later in the morning a few of Sydney’s simple attractions brought out the “youngster” in some before boarding the ferry to take in some information on some of Sydney’s more famous landmarks and also provide them with some moments of wishful thinking. Overall they were a wonderful group to take on the day and we thank Mark Cahill and Donna Quinn for organising it for them.

The following boys received Academic Excellence Awards from Mr Tarlinton at today’s Assembly. Congratulations boys!

For no particular reason, the Kitchen decided to roll out some smoothies this morning for the boys, provided the boys were prepared to work for it by doing some pedalling! We weren’t short of takers, plenty keen to give it a go and happy they did!

The boys enjoyed a study skills session tonight with the team from Elevate, plenty of useful tips to put into practice for all the boys.

The boys thoroughly enjoyed having the Waratahs take them for training today. Wonderful opportunity for them to meet and talk with many of their favourite players. Great to see many Joeys Old Boys back on their home ground too!!

On Wednesday ex-student Daniel Price (2003) along with Renee Gartner and Alexa Towersey spoke to the boys about Mental Health, Depression and offered their own personal stories with some great messages and tools for the boys to take from the presentation. The boys enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity very much.

Boys had a great night at the College Musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels last
night. Well done to all our boys in the production, outstanding!!

There is an upcoming seminar entilted “Treating Sleep Deprived Adolescents” presented by Adolescent Sleep Physician, Dr Chris Seton and Adolescent Sleep Psychologist, Dr Amanda Gamble from the Woolcock Institute. This seminar will teach you all you need to know about adolescent sleep, as well as showing you how to detect problems and implement practical assistance.

A very warm welcome to Connor van Wyk from St Henry’s, Durban. Connor is a wonderful young man, who is a credit to his family and College. Below is a couple of pictures of Connor with Callum Peacocke at St Henry’s just before he left to join us as well as photos of Callum meeting some important locals over there. While Dayle and John Peacocke are caring for Connor during his time at Joeys, if you are able to host him for a weekend, please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

Next week the College Musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, commences with rehearsals over the weekend and performances each night of the week. We wish our boys involved every success and certainly hope their time and preparation is deservedly rewarded with an enjoyable experience. Good luck to Mitchell Hoare, Bill Dalton, Charlie Nicholls, Nick Davies, Alex and Dom Sestanovic, Max Voulgaris and Jack Duffy, we hope you have a great week.
