Volunteers Needed

Volunteers needed 2017 Marist Sony Children’s Camp.

The annual Marist Sony Children’s Camp will be held here at the College from 6 – 9 December.

37 children with disabilities will be welcomed to the College by students from Joeys, Marist Sisters Woolwich and Brigidine College. The benefits of the Camp are immeasurable; primarily though the Camp provides much needed respite for the parents of the children with disabilities. Undoubtedly, the students who are involved in the Camp, experience a life changing experience as they step into the role of full time carer of the child that had been entrusted to them.

We are once again reaching out to parents and carers who are able to support the camp. There are a variety of roles available and the link below provides details around roles and dates. We are also keen to hear from any registered nurses who may be able to offer support. If you are able to volunteer please click on the link below. If you have any questions please contact Lesley Maher at: lmaher@joeys.org or call 9816 0898

Many thanks in advance for your support:

Award Recipients at the Headmasters Assembly

Last Wednesday evening saw the Opening of a Visual Arts Exhibition at Hunters Hill Town Hall to showcase artwork produced by students in local Primary and High Schools.

The exhibition is titled ‘Young in Art’. Several students from Years 7-10 at St Joseph’s College had work on display.

Two of our Year 7 artists, Brady Hartley and Flynn Costello, collected Prizes of Highly Commended and Commended.

Congratulations to these young men, and to all the students with work on display. Today these two boys received awards at the Headmasters Assembly. Congratulations boys.

  1. Family Mass of Thanksgiving – Mass starts at 10am but the boys are to be seated in the Br Emilian Hall by 9.45am. Dress is Full BLUES
  2. Spring Fair – Follows straight after the Mass. The boys can head up to the dorms to get changed but will only have a brief period up there. Dress is neat casual clothes with shoes for the Spring Fair.
  3. The dorms will be locked from approx. 11.20am until 4pm.
  4. There will be sign off on College C at 4pm near the stair well that leads to the Science Labs.

A reminder that boys events are Compulsory College events.

Melbourne Cup

The boys were able to watch the Cup in the dorms and in doing so we had a little fun by creating a sweep. Congratulations to the lucky boys below who managed to back a winner.

Boarders Sunday Activity

Last Sunday the boarders went fishing and swimming at Balmoral beach. Not great weather but the boys had a fantastic time with Declan teaching everyone how to fish. Thanks to Mr Reading and Jim Lloyd for taking the boys out.

All Ensembles Concert

You would have received communication from the Music Department about this but this simply is a reminder about the event and to add a bit of information about what will take place before it kicks off.

The boys will have dinner at approx. 5.45pm. They will then change into their BLUES and then head to the Br Emilian Hall.

The Concert will start at 7pm and should finish around 9pm.

Those boys who have studied piano are not required to attend the event but are encouraged to do so.  If your son is a Day student he does not have to stay at the College until the start of the Concert. He can go home and return by 6.45pm for the 7pm start.
