Commemorative College Cadet pin

At the Headmaster’s Assembly, Years 7 to 11 were presented with a commemorative College Cadet pin, reproduced as a gift from SJC Old Boys’ Union. In recognition of the Centenary of Armistice more than 6000 handmade poppies have been knitted or crocheted by our community. From Wednesday they will cover the circular lawn, encircled by a cross for each of the 133 Old Boys who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, made by Years 7 and 8 in their memory. A large cross, covered with poppies glued by each boy in memory of the fallen, will feature in the Armistice and Family Masses next weekend. Ed and Jack Symons’ (Year 9 and Year 7 from Peak Hill) dedicated their poppy to their grandfather who was a recipient of a Victoria Cross for his actions at Lone Pine, Gallipoli and also served in WWII.
